Employment Road Maps: Exploring Canadian Career Paths

Brought to you by BIPT, Douglas College ISS of BC, MOSAIC, SUCCESS and Simon Fraser University

Navigating the employment landscape in Canada can be exciting as it offers countless opportunities for immigrant job seekers.This conference aims to:

  • Bring awareness to the Nonlinear nature of career exploration
  • Provide information on the hiring/recruiting practices in the following employment sectors
    • Healthcare
    • Manufacturing
    • Technology
    • Tourism/Hospitality
    • Construction Engineering
    • Clean Technology
  • Tips on how immigrants can grow within these sectors
  • An opportunity to have a dialogue with employers
  • Strategies to help understand and approach cultural differences in the workplace
  • Services and supports available to immigrants to help them reach their career potential
NOTE: Participants will be able to participate in two breakout sessions based on the professional sector they are trained to work in and an alternate professional career path they would like to explore/work in.
We hope this conference will help immigrant job seekers better understand various industries in Canada and their characteristics and will further advance their success in career and employment development.
