Help Make Langley More Inclusive

Are you an immigrant living in Langley, BC? Your input is needed!

Did you know, approximately 40,000 newcomers land in British Columbia every year? While there are many organizations and services to help them settle into life in Canada, there’s always work to be done! If you are an immigrant living in the City or Township of Langley, the Langley LIP would like your input. In order to create an inclusive and welcoming environment, the Langley LIP is conducting research to improve immigrant settlement and integration.

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) work toward meeting the needs of newcomers within the community that they choose to live in. Working with stakeholders in a variety of regions, LIPs determine what the community needs to be welcoming and inclusive. Stakeholders include community immigrant-serving agencies, educational institutions, businesses, the government, libraries, health services, parks and recreation, and volunteer organizations to name a few. The goals of LIPs are as follows:

  • To create an inclusive partnership council that represents the community
  • To conduct research and raise awareness of the needs of newcomers and the community
  • To establish a local settlement strategy to identify key priorities for the community
  • To support the implementation of action plans and report on the results achieved

In order to successfully reach these goals, LIPs need the authentic voice of newcomers. Gathering the latest and most locally-relevant data on newcomer needs is invaluable. By bringing the immigrant lens to the forefront of discussions on priorities in a wide range of sectors will ensure that stakeholders are hyperaware when establishing guidelines and making decisions.

Take the Langley LIP survey and have your voice be heard!

If you’re a newcomer living in the City or Township of Langley, the Langley LIP needs your input to understand the life of immigrants in the community.
