Today the Ministry of Health announced that as of October 1, they will be managing payment for the medical diagnostic test (required for some immigration medicals within 90 days of arriving) for CUAET visa holders. This means that CUAET holders will not have to pay out of pocket for the test costs. Those who have already paid for the testing can be reimbursed. The Connect2Work (C2W) program is a is a pre-employment program that prepares #newcomer youth to better understand the #canadian work environment and build life and employability skills with #esl support. It offers orientations and workshops, pre-employment case management, and supportive networking opportunities for a successful transition into Canada's labour market. Participants are permanent residents, convention refugees or CUAET, ages 15-30, and live in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. Workshops introduce participants to life and work skills, the job search cycle, workplace culture and workers' rights and responsibilities in Canada. C2W case managers offer ongoing service in first language #russian, #turkish, #arabic, #malaysian and #indonesian with the additional language support from our Newcomer Services Department in #spanish, #french, #farsi, #bengali, and #hindi. @redcrosscanada wants to hear about your experience. This month, the Canadian Red Cross and Partners for Action are conducting nine virtual focus groups across Canada as part of a research study. Emergency preparedness is not a one-size-fits-all approach. That’s why we want our emergency preparedness messages to reach a wider, more diverse population of Canadians.
