S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is a Canadian organization dedicated to supporting newcomers through a range of services and supports promoting a smooth transition and successful integration into Canadian society. With over 40 service locations across Canada and in Asia, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. offers programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals and families at various stages of their Canadian journey.

Settlement Services

Navigating a new country involves understanding its systems, culture, and community resources. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. provides settlement services that include orientation sessions, information workshops, and personalized support to help newcomers adapt to life in Canada. These services cover essential topics such as healthcare, education, transportation, and legal rights.

Language Training

Effective communication is important for integration. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. offers language programs aimed at improving English proficiency, including Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes and conversation circles. These programs build language skills and confidence in everyday interactions.

Employment Services

Securing meaningful employment is a priority for many newcomers. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. provides employment services that assist with job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and connections to potential employers. Specialized programs support internationally trained professionals in obtaining credential recognition and accessing their respective fields in Canada.

Nikoo, an Employment Settlement Practitioner with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. helped newcomers navigate the job market. “In the Tri-Cities, employment is the most challenging part of being a newcomer and a necessity to settle down in a new country. For being employed, getting involved in the community and making connections is important. I helped people in this area by providing information regarding resume and cover letter writing, credential assessment, career path workshops, mock interviews and more.”

Family and Youth Programs

Understanding the unique challenges faced by newcomer families and youthS.U.C.C.E.S.S. offers programs that support parenting in a new cultural context, youth mentorship, and after-school activities. These initiatives build community connections and help young newcomers navigate the Canadian education system.

Community Engagement and the Library Champions Project

Building a sense of belonging is vital for newcomers. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. encourages community engagement through volunteer opportunities, cultural events, and social groups. One notable initiative is the Library Champions Project (LCP), a volunteer program that helps newcomers integrate into their communities while gaining valuable experience.

Nikoo, who also participated in this project, shared her personal experience: “As a newcomer in Canada, I had a chance to volunteer as a Library Champion, and it really helped me with getting in touch with other people. It also provided useful information and resources to me, so I wanted it for other people like me.”

After completing the program, many newcomers share positive feedback: “I had some positive feedback regarding helping them to reduce their isolation and increasing their self-confidence to get involved in the community more,” Nikoo writes.

Housing and Health Education

Access to safe housing and health information is fundamental. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. provides guidance on finding affordable housing and offers health education programs that promote physical and mental well-being, ensuring newcomers have the knowledge to access healthcare services and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Seniors’ Services

Recognizing the contributions and needs of senior newcomersS.U.C.C.E.S.S. offers programs tailored for older adults, including social activities, wellness workshops, and support groups. These services aim to reduce isolation and promote active, engaged living among senior community members.
