Introducing West Vancouver Memorial Library’s 2026 Sound Artist in Residence: Niloofar Ejraei!
Niloofar Ejraei is a santoor performer, composer, and music educator based in Vancouver. Trained at Tehran University’s College of Fine Arts under leading masters of the Persian classical tradition, she has performed at venues across Iran and Canada including the Fars Fajr Music Festival, Avini Hall at Tehran University, and Von Kuster Hall at Western University. She is currently developing “Echo Between Worlds”, an original cross-cultural project for santoor and classical instruments inspired by the Iranian diaspora experience in Canada and the search for cultural identity across borders. She is completing a Master of Music Education at Western University, where her research focuses on improvisation pedagogy in Persian classical music, and teaching at Cadenza Music and Performing Arts Academy in North Vancouver and Nava Records School of Fine Arts.

Niloofar will offer English and Farsi sessions with exclusive hands-on audio creation opportunities, including soundtrack composition and storytelling through sound. She will also be offering in-Studio mentorship opportunities, including workshops on microphone placement and one-on-one appointments to build confidence and independence in the Library’s Recording Studio!
