Rhythms & Stories is an interactive, art-based experience at West Vancouver Memorial Library that invites participants to explore African culture through drumming, movement, storytelling, and creative expression. Guided by Ugandan in BC Social Society facilitators, this session introduces how rhythm and oral tradition are used across African communities to build connection, share history, and express identity. Participants will engage in hands-on drumming, simple movement, and reflective storytelling, creating space for both learning and personal exploration. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to participate. This welcoming and inclusive program encourages community connection, cultural curiosity, and self-expression, offering a meaningful opportunity to experience the power of rhythm and story in bringing people together.
While this program was created for adults, all are welcome to join! Children under the age of 10 must attend with a parent or caregiver.
