Building:
Bowen Library is housed in the historic Union Steamship Company Store. Built in 1924 the library building originally functioned as the company store for guests and staff of the Union Steamship Company and celebrated its 100th birthday in August 2024. The library has been in the building since 2002.

Lounge, study tables, public computers, Wi-Fi, children’s area for programs, mini bookstore selling good condition used books, Pod (soundproof meeting booth), Anne Laurie Wood Annex open to public during library hours.
Location:
Located 300 metres from the BC Ferries terminal in Snug Cove. Library is walking distance from the ferry, is located in the main commercial area of the island, and has the central bus stop immediately outside on Cardena Drive.
Parking:
Free parking is available in the lot on site. Free street parking is available throughout Snug Cove.
Interesting Tips:
- Bowen Library operates the “Med Shed”, a community resource lending medical equipment such as crutches, walkers, bath and shower chairs, and rails free to Bowen residents and visitors.
- The Pod is a two-person soundproof booth! If you’d like to use the Pod, please check in with staff at the front desk. The Pod has a dimmable light, adjustable fan and is equipped with 120V, USB, and USB-C outlets.
- The Tech Tutor program offers one-on-one assistance with technology questions of all kinds. Hour long appointments can be booked by email.
