A 6,000 square foot library opened in 1984.
Features:
A compact, family oriented, accessible, customer service driven library. The library offers Wi-Fi, internet stations, word processing stations, and a black and white photocopier / printer. The library hosts a aide variety of programs and clubs for children and adults including digital literacy (from basic Internet classes to personal assistance with personal devices). A café is located within the Community Centre lobby.
Location:
The library is located in the Walnut Grove Community Centre. The library’s central location in Walnut Grove is next to numerous local walking trails and green space, as well as the local high school with sport fields, tennis courts, and running track. So play a game of tennis, or go for a walk or run—then drop in for a good read, a movie, or updated music for your next go around. The library is accessible by public transit (see Translink).
Parking:
Free parking in the Community Centre parking lot surrounding the building. The parking lot features two electric car-charging stations.
Interesting Tips:
- The Walnut Grove Community Centre features a pool, gymnasium, fitness centre and other facilities.
- In Spring 2021, the library was renamed in honour of Dean Drysdale, a long-time Langley resident, elected official, professor, military officer, aspiring parliamentarian, and venture capitalist.
- Library Live and On Tour is an innovative, stereotype-shattering literacy initiative developed by Fraser Valley Regional Library that “delivers the library” to people who do not know about libraries or have some obstacle to visiting them.
- The Playground at FVRL offers customers of all ages free access to fun and engaging STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) related learning experiences. The Playground features lending collections and in-library experiences.
