Building:

Newest BPL branch (opened in November 2009), third largest BPL branch (17,500 square feet), sustainable architecture including a green roof, unique architecture (open and airy, double height ceiling throughout).

Art installations, accessible, community rooms, designated children’s area, work / study and lounge seating areas, public computers, printer, photocopier, scanner, Wi-Fi.

Location:

Located in Edmonds neighbourhood, located on transportation route (Kingsway), close to commercial area on Kingsway, close to Richmond Park, close to public transit (see Translink), close to cycling routes (see Burnaby bike map).

Interesting Tips:

The library building is a LEED Gold project that was a joint venture between HDR and Diamond Schmitt Architects. It incorporates a variety of sustainable features including a green roof, natural daylighting, geo-exchange heating, and an underground cistern that collects rainwater from the roof that is in turn used for landscape irrigation.
